The Australian citizenship test is designed to evaluate one’s understanding of Australia, its democratic system, principles, values, and the duties and benefits of citizenship.
This assessment is a computer-based, English multiple-choice exam comprising 20 randomly selected questions. As of November 15, 2020, the test now includes an additional five questions focusing on Australian values. To successfully pass the evaluation, it is necessary to answer all five values-related questions correctly and achieve an overall score of at least 75%. Candidates are allotted 45 minutes to respond to all 20 questions.
The test draws its content from the official handbook 'Australian Citizenship: Our Common Bond'; this resource is recommended for preparation. The requisite information for passing the citizenship test is encapsulated in the first four sections of this handbook:
- Part 1: Australia and its people
- Part 2: Australia’s democratic beliefs, rights and liberties
- Part 3: Government and the law in Australia
- Part 4: Australian values
A robust section of 480 practice questions is also incorporated into this application to aid in exam preparation:

- Comprehensive explanations help in learning during practice
- Track your progress with detailed metrics displaying correct and incorrect answers along with scoring trends
